The Elections Commission (EC) on Tuesday opened re-registration for citizens who choose to vote at an electoral area other than their registered islands.

EC announced that people will be able to re-register their electoral areas starting from Tuesday until July 11. Re-registration forms will be collected on working days from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and on public holidays from 9:30 a.m. till 3:00 p.m.

The forms are available from the EC office, Fahiveni Community Center at reclaimed suburb Hulhumale, and the council offices of all islands. Additionally, the form can also be downloaded from the commission's website.

In addition to these centres, forms can also be submitted at the "mobile stations" to be established in Villimale's ferry terminal.

Along with the form, citizens must submit an updated identification document with their signatures. Citizens are to also take alone the originals of these documents.

All individuals that had registered at other islands for previous elections are also instructed to re-register for the election this year.
