MDP submits more than 800 complaints over voters' registry

Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) submitted over 800 complaints on Wednesday regarding the voters' registry for the Presidential Elections to be held in September.

During a press gathering held by MDP, the party's vice chairperson Ali Niyaz said that they submitted 861 complaints, and requested EC to resolve them.

According to him, the names of 711 minors and 108 deceased were included in the registry. Additionally, 38 names were repeated as well.

The deadline to submit complaints was at 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

The current list by EC states that 263,000 people are eligible to vote in the coming Presidential Elections. The commission had assured that it would upload the amended list after reviewing the complaints.
