In an effort to digitalise schools in the Maldives, the Ministry of Education has handed over tablets to teachers of public schools across the country.
According to the ministry, 8459 teachers that teach grades 1 – 10 were given tablets last week.
Students will also be given tablets when the second semester begins, the education ministry had said.
The education ministry’s state minister Ahmed Shifau had revealed that Wi-Fi has now been set up in all schools across Maldives as well.
The teachers underwent a short course to familiarise with the technology before the ministry handed out the tablets.
Over 70,000 Vave tablets were imported to the Maldives under the school digitalisation programme.
The second semester is set to start next Monday.
