President Abdulla Yameen reassigned former CEO of Maldives Ports Limited (MPL), Mohamed Junaid, as the Commissioner General of Maldives Customs Services on Tuesday.

With this change, the current Commissioner General of Customs Ibrahim Shareef was assigned as the Trade Representative from the Maldives to Melbourne, Australia.

Junaid had on previous occasions filled the post of CG during President Yameen's presidency, until he was reassigned as CEO for MPL.

In February 2017, Junaid had resigned in order to give more time to his personal businesses, stating that he was not thinking of taking up any state posts at that time.
