A Maldivian was apprehended from Bandaranayke International Airport with over two kilograms of heroin, Sri Lankan media reported Wednesday.
The man was caught with approximately 2.39 kilograms of heroin, reports said.
The Sri Lankan authorities did not reveal any details on the identity of the man.
According to the media reports, the estimated value of the drugs was around Sri Lankan Rupees 24 million (over USD 300,000).
The Maldivian man had entered Sri Lanka a total of 15 times in the last two year, reports said, citing the police.
The man is to be taken to court in Sri Lanka to be remanded soon.
Two Maldivians were arrested last week from Sri Lanka with a haul of ‘party drugs’ with an estimated street value of MVR 900,000.
