Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has terminated an agreement to create a 360-degree digital chart of the Maldives, signed with Gecko Digital of Indonesia in December 2017.

Gecko Digital was informed of this via email on May 14. While it did not elaborate why the agreement was terminated, it asked Gecko Digital to contact MMPRC's office for further information.

Gecko Digital has stated that they were unable to reach MMPRC via the contact number provided to them, and thus were still unaware of the reason for termination.

The 360-degree map of the Maldives was to be developed free of charge under the contract, and the final map was to be displayed on MMPRC's Visit Maldives website.

During the agreement signing ceremony, MMPRC's acting Managing Director Haris Mohamed had said that teams from Gecko Digital would visit all the islands to take photographs and videos as required for the development of the map.

A large portion of the map was already completed when MMPRC announced the contract termination.
