Ministry of Home Affairs has stated that the ministry would establish a drug rehabilitation centre for minors in substance abuse.

The home ministry is set to establish the program to rehabilitate minors in joint efforts with National Drug Agency (NDA).

The ministry run Juvenile Justice Unit's Executive Director Hameed Yoosuf stated that the regulations to run the rehabilitation programme has been set, and that the programme will commence coming June. He added that the programme will allow children to live with their families while attending rehabilitation sessions daily.

Although the Drugs Act orders the establishment of a rehab centre specialized for children, none has been established to date. However, drug rehabilitation centres for adults have been established across the archipelago.
