Former home minister Hassan Afeef was arrested at the opposition rally that took place late Saturday.
Police arrest Afeef, who had served as the home minister during the previous government, while he was giving an interview to opposition aligned television station Raajje TV amidst the protest.
The police had also arrested a number of other people.
Meanwhile, over 140 civilians were arrested during the major opposition rally that was held Friday night. The detainees included some members of parliament.
