Main opposition Maldives Democratic Party (MDP)’s National Council member Abdulla Shaheem was released on Tuesday.
Shaheem was arrested from the opposition protest held on February 16, under the ong0ing State of Emergency.
MDP had been raising concerns, claiming that he had not been receiving proper heathcare during his detention. According to the party, he had injured his knee during the arrest. They added that since he had had knee problems even before, doctors had advised him to have surgery.
In addition to Shaheem, several members of MDP’s nation council were arrested from the protests.
