A young man died after falling from a building early Sunday morning in capital Male.
Ahmed Yash, 22, fell from Venus, an eight-story guesthouse in Maafannu ward, around 6:00 a.m.
According to an official from Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), he was pronounced dead on arrival.
A witness revealed that Yash was staying in a room on the fourth floor and he was accompanied by three other men and two women on Saturday night. He told Mihaaru that early Sunday morning, there were noises coming from the room which hinted at some form of commotion taking place.
The witness stated that two women and one man were arrested from the room. The police have not given any statements regarding the matter.
Mihaaru has come to know that the guesthouse had reported to the police due the sounds of disruptions coming from the room. A person who spoke on behalf of the guesthouse said that they has informed the police at 6:01 a.m. in the morning, as the people in the room were damaging their properties. However, the guesthouse was told that the police cannot forcefully enter as there was no court order. He noted that they had given Police permission to enter as the owners of the place.
After the conflicts, Yash was seen hanging from the fifth-floor balcony of the guesthouse. The witness who was on the fourth floor at that time said that he had shouted at Yash not to jump and ran up to the fifth floor. However, he heard Yash fall before he could reach him.
IGMH's spokesperson stated that they have handed over his body to the police for further investigations.
