Police on Saturday released the former parliament speaker and Henveiru North MP Abdulla Shahid and Dhidhdhoo MP Abdul Latheef Mohamed, who were arrested during the joint opposition’s rally in capital Male on Friday.
The two were accused of obstructing the duties of law enforcement officers.
The police had also arrested the former police commissioner and Kinbidhoo MP Abdulla Riyaz on Friday. He was arrested under the ongoing state of emergency and remains in custody, Police had revealed.
In addition to the three opposition lawmakers, a number of citizens were also taken into custody during the protest, some of whom have been since released.
