Police announced Sunday that 15 days have been added to the remands of two people arrested for setting fire to an electricity distribution board in capital Male.
The distribution board was ignited at dawn last week Wednesday. While their remand has been extended by the Criminal Court, the police spokesperson noted that the investigation is still underway.
Seven buildings in the area lost electricity after the distribution board was set aflame.
Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) had put out the fire within 10 minutes, while State Electric Company (STELCO) has since replaced the board and started providing regular services again.
