Police ensure safety of monks harassed on Male streets

Maldives Police Service offered security to two monks visiting the capital Male city, after they were verbally harassed by some locals.

According to the police, a group of people had expressed discontent over the two monks roaming the city, and police officers had escorted them back to their hotels to ensure their safety.

No further details regarding the incident, or where the monks were from, were revealed.

While there were rumours of a group of people trying to attack the monks, the police had refuted these claims.

Some years back, the a few residents of Hulhumale had taken to social media to express their disgruntlements over some monks residing there.
