The prime minister of Malaysia, Najib Razak, is to make an official visit to the Maldives next week.
In a statement, the Malaysian foreign ministry announced that Razak is scheduled to first visit Sri Lanka coming Sunday. He will arrive in the Maldives after concluding the two-day visit.
President Abdulla Yameen had earlier proclaimed that Razak would pay on official visit to the Maldives. Following his trip to Malaysia in March 2016, Yameen told the press that the Malaysian prime minister had guaranteed that he would call on the president in the Maldives.
Former president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom had also spoken of Razak’s promised visit after the former’s trip to Malaysia in 2014.
