The education ministry in conjunction with the World Bank are to launch a major project of USD 10 million (MVR 154 million) to improve the quality of higher education and human resources in the Maldives.

According to education state minister Dr Abdulla Nazeer, World Bank will provide free aid for the project which is to commence in June next year. He stated that the ministry has many plans underway to better the higher education sector under this project with the World Bank.

Shedding light on the project’s targets, Nazeer explained that building youth and ensuring employment for them is one of the priorities of the project. Youth will be trained for projects that are currently ongoing in the nation.

The education ministry and the World Bank are already conducting a joint program to improve education and infrastructure in schools.
