Benefits from Fohdhipparu lagoon to go to Fodhdhoo

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has said today that the benefits derived from the protected Fohdhipparu lagoon, near Noonu atoll Fodhdhoo, will be directed to the people of the island.

Speaking during his visit to Fodhdhoo as part of his ongoing tour of Noonu atoll, President Muizzu said the lagoon, which is protected by the Environment Ministry for tourism purposes, would be jointly managed by the ministry and the island council.

He said a management plan had been developed in collaboration with the council to oversee the area and create a sustainable system for generating revenue.

“During the presidential election campaign, I promised to ensure the benefits of Fohdhipparu lagoon would reach the people of this island. That promise stands. The council will benefit from it,” he said.
