Eight applied for post of JSC's Representative from the Public

Eight individuals applied for the post of JSC Member representing the Public.

Applications were opened on June 12 as the term of the current member, Aminath UmmuKulsum, will be ending in August.

The names of the eight applicants were announced in today's parliament sitting.

The eight applicants are:

1. Ibrahim Zahid, Lilymaage, GDh. Vaadhoo

2. Ahmed Ali, Hulhumale'

3. Ali Amir, Ma. Panzy Villa

4. Idhrees Fauzy, Fahivaage, L. Kalaidhoo

5. Ahmed Shafiu, Udhares, HA. Ihavandhoo

6. Dr Hussain Faiz, Male' Registry no. 1325

7. Hassan Waheed, Rankokaage, HDh. Kurin'bee

8. Ali Mohamed Manik, Male' Registry no. 1851

The names have now been forwarded to the Judiciary Committee for review.

JSC consists of a Member representing the Public, a Member appointed from the parliament, Civil Service Commission President, Attorney General, Member appointed by the President, Member representing lawyers, a Judge from the lower courts, a Judge from High Court and a Judge from the Supreme Court.
