Maldives Immigration officers have now begun using body-worn cameras.

Immigration said that under their efforts to identify expatriates living and working illegally in the Maldives, three expatriates were detained from Hulhumale' Phase 1 yesterday.

This operation saw Immigration officers using body-worn cameras for the first time.

Immigration has also launched an online portal 'Immigration Watch' through which the public can submit complaints and concerns regarding expatriates suspected to be working or living illegally in the Maldives.

In 2022, Police also introduced the use of body-worn cameras. Police now use these cameras when responding to protests and rallies, as well as other major operations. Prison officers also started using body-worn cameras in 2023.
