Expat detained after refusal to comply with Police orders

An expatriate has been detained today for refusing to comply with Police orders to stop while he was walking to Velana International Airport from Hulhumale'.

A Police Media Official said that the expatriate had been asked to stop by Police while he had been entering the airport on foot. Instead of complying, he ran away.

At around 7:40am, Police located him on Ruhjehi Magu, upon which he was detained.

He has been identified as Rohit Kumar, 23, of Indian nationality. Police have since found out that Kumar had been evading his sponsor.

Police are looking into the matter further.
