The Criminal Court on Friday added 15 days to the remand of the suspect arrested in connection with the murder of local youth, Nadeem Abdul Raheem, late last month.

Police arrested the suspect during a raid on a house in Galolhu ward of Male on Thursday. While Police have not disclosed the suspect’s identity yet, Mihaaru understands that the man is Mohamed Mafaaz of Male, who has a long criminal record of being involved in dangerous attacks.

Mohamed Mafaaz, who is included in the list of Dangerous Criminals issued by Maldives Police Service, had also been tagged with an ankle monitor under the Anti-Terrorism Act's MoniCon order. He had been prosecuted for violating the MoniCon order and the court had ordered his detention until the end of his trial at the time.

Nadeem Abdul Raheem, 24, of Haa Alif atoll Thakandhoo island was attacked by a gang inside a café in capital Male on July 27. He was admitted to ADK Hospital where he was receiving emergency treatment for stab wounds to his head before he passed away July 29.
