The Department of Judicial Administration (DJA) has requested the courts to look into reports of judges allegedly attempting to file a disciplinary motion against Chief Justice Abdulla Saeed at the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

Rumours are currently circulating on social media that judges are allegedly signing a petition to file a disciplinary issue of Chief Justice Saeed at the JSC. Details of the rumoured disciplinary issue are yet unclear.

In a letter to the courts signed by Judicial Administrator Hassan Saeed, DJA requested the courts to probe and verify the reports of judges signing an alleged petition against the Chief Justice. DJA has confirmed the letter’s existence to Mihaaru.

Chief Justice Abdulla Saeed is currently abroad. While the Supreme Court has accepted the appeals of lawmakers ousted from Parliament by the Elections Commission, the opposition coalition proclaims that the top court’s verdict on the issue is being delayed over the Chief Justice’s absence.
