A man died Saturday while being treated for injuries sustained during an attack with a sharp object.
Nadeem Abdul Raheem, 24, of Haa Alif atoll Thakandhoo island was attacked by a gang last Thursday night inside a café in capital Male. He was admitted to ADK Hospital where he was receiving emergency treatment for stab wounds to his head before he passed away on Saturday. According to a relative, Nadeem had been on the ventilator while in the Intensive Care Unit.
Police are yet to make any arrests in connection to the attack.
There have been an upsurge of gang violence in Male recently. Two such incidents took place last Tuesday with another two the previous week as well. Police have arrested six suspects in connection to a gang violence that took place the week before.
