The Maldives' national carrier Maldivian is probing a staff member for allegedly embezzling over MVR 500,000 from the company.
According to sources, the money was embezzled by a female employee of Maldivian's commercial department. Maldivian has also confirmed the news.
According to an official, the employee who is the only staff suspected of being involved has been informed to stay at home while the investigation is underway. The official said that details will not be unveiled until the end of the probe.
Mihaaru understands that the female employee embezzled the money by logging into the company's network using the identities of various staff. She allegedly took tickets from the system and spent the money for personal uses.
The matter has not been reported to Maldives Police Service yet and is being investigated as an internal matter.
