The President’s Office has scheduled the official reception of this year’s Independence Day, hosted by President Abdulla Yameen and First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim, for July 27.
According to the President’s Office, the ceremony will be held late July 27 at Dharubaaruge convention centre in capital Male. Invitations will be extended to several high ranking officials of the government as per the norm.
The reception of the Maldives’ Independence Day is hosted annually by the President and First Lady, mainly featuring the presidential couple’s official greetings with the invitees and a banquet.
The Maldives marks its independence from the British protectorate on July 26.
