President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced plans to formulate a 20 year National Development Masterplan.
During a Cabinet meeting held yesterday, the plan, a key element of President Muizzu's manifesto, was discussed.
In a video message publicized regarding the decision, the President said the plan is intended to be completed within a year and will involve the participation of all citizens, including input from political parties, civil society groups, experts and various stakeholders.
“The Masterplan will be supported by a dedicated law,” President Muizzu said.
He emphasized that the goal is to ensure the Maldives' development over the next two decades aligns with the people’s vision.
President Muizzu also noted that discussions on the Master Plan will take place across all islands, with the development process shaped by public input.
“This initiative is beginning now. It is a collective effort and, with everyone's participation, it will ensure future of our children,” he added.
