A pregnant woman passed away unexpectedly in the island of Naifaru in Lhaviyani atoll on Sunday.
Aishath Azka Abdulla, 29, who was four months pregnant with her second child, was asthmatic and passed away after her condition abruptly worsened.
According to a relative of Azka, she had suffered an asthma attack and had had to be nebulised earlier that day. However, her condition had later worsened again suddenly and she lost consciousness.
“She was already dead when taken to the hospital,” said the relative.
A young pregnant woman had also passed away earlier on May 11. Fathimath Sharma, 21, who was six months pregnant was found dead in Shaviyani atoll Milandhoo island. Doctors believe that her death was caused by a heart attack.
