The Criminal Court has ordered to shift Male City Councillor Zaidul Ameen, who is arrested over allegedly blackmailing a judge, to house arrest beginning this Monday.

Zaid was arrested last January and the court has ordered to keep him under arrest until the end of his trial last month. However, the trial held on Monday behind doors ended with a an order to change him to house arrest. No further details of his hearing has been revealed yet.

The state is charging Zaid with the illicit release of prohibited information without permission, unlawfully obtaining information and obstructing law enforcement.
