The family and friends of murdered blogger Yameen Rasheed have organised a peaceful march to be held Tuesday afternoon in his memory and to demand justice for his death.
In a statement, Yameen’s family said that the peaceful march will begin from Artificial Beach on the eastern coast of capital Male at 4:30 p.m., continue down the main road of Majeedhee Magu and finish at Rasfannu on the western coast.
Yameen Rasheed, a renowned blogger and social media activist, was found murdered with over 30 stab wounds in the stairway of his house last month. His family noted that despite a month having passed since his death, Police have yet to disclose information on the culprits to either the family or public.
Expressing hopes that his killers and the solicitors of his murder will soon be found and brought to justice, the family urged as many people as possible to participate in the march.
Meanwhile, Police have confirmed that seven suspects have been arrested in connection to Yameen’s murder, two of whom are suspected to be directly involved in the act. Police assert that they are making headway in the investigation and that there is hope of successfully closing the case.
