The arrested person is a 39 year old Maldivian man. When taken to court, he accepted the charges.
As per the remand order, Police had submitted evidence of him not fasting to court, alongside the report of the Police officers who attended the scene. Further details were not revealed.
Another individual was also arrested earlier on March 24 for not fasting. This individual, a 40 year old man, was in custody for 2 days for eating a bun and thus breaking his fast in daytime during Ramadan.
