Lawyer Ali Shah, who was detained over allegedly obstructing the police investigation into the murder of renowned blogger Yameen Rasheed, has been released under certain conditions.
The Criminal Court released Shah at his remand hearing held last Saturday. He was initially remanded for five days and kept under house arrest.
No details have been yet revealed of the conditions imposed on Shah by the court.
Shah is a criminal defence lawyer who has advocated in major homicide and other criminal offence cases. He was suspended by the Supreme Court in 2015 but his suspension was ultimately revoked.
Meanwhile, Police have confirmed that seven suspects have been arrested over Yameen Rasheed’s murder, two of whom are said to be the main suspects directly involved in the act. Police had previously warned repeatedly against any actions or statements that could impede their investigation which they claim is making steady progress.
