President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has assured that he will not penalize nor chastise any expression of dissatisfaction nor criticism directed at him and that he will always proceed with the people's wishes instead of his own preferences.
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has stated that he will not punish nor take action against any individual regarding directing a phrase or criticism at him.
Speaking at Kurendhoo during his trip to Lhaviyani atoll commenced this morning, the President remarked that he had observed some news media reporting about a civil servant being demoted due to what was said by the employee about President Muizzu on social media.
The President had asserted that the Managing Director of the company was contacted about the issue and the procedures leading up to it was clarified. However, responses from the Managing Director had revealed that the conduct of the employee was much more serious than that. Speaking on behalf of the Managing Director, the President assured that the case was inspected within the company policies
He further said that the Managing Director of the company was requested to clarify the events of the case to the people of the country.
The President was referring to the relegation of an employee of State Trading Organization (STO). The letter of relegation circulating around social media stated that this action was taken due to irresponsible posts by the employee in question violating the rights of Senior Representatives of the State and the bad impression it creates amongst the people towards the company as a result.
The letter signed by the General Manager of STO, Maryam Nuzula, further emphasized that as this conduct violates the policies of the employee’s company position, action against the employee was determined to be taken.
Addressing this, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu stated that phrases said due to dissatisfaction nor the conduct of directing criticism warranting reprimanding and penalizing is not acceptable by his values. He maintained his desire to hear the people’s dissatisfactions and improve the matters of their concerns.
“I do not want action to be taken in response to a criticism directed at me. I was never someone who conducted myself that way. Everyone must be able to express anything within the boundaries of the laws and Constitution. And all forms of dissatisfaction must also be able to be expressed. I will not take any action,” said the President.
He had stated that all that is observed of Senior Representatives of the State is them responding in clear-cut honest manners and that there are, however, people attempting to deceive the people regardless of this.
“In response to this, other parties are all just spouting lies. Telling lies without any truth to it. I implore the citizens to contemplate and choose the words told in clear honestly,” the President said.
He further assured that he will always shape his conduct to cater to the people’s needs even even if that may be against his own personal preference.
