A second suspect was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the brutal murder of social media activist and blogger Yameen Rasheed.
Mihaaru understands that the suspect is an employee of a state company.
The first to be arrested over Yameen Rasheed’s murder is an 18 year old youth suspected of trailing and keeping track of Yameen’s movements before he was brutally killed on April 23. He lives close to the building where Yameen lived and where his body was found with multiple stab wounds.
The authorities are yet to disclose details of the second person arrested over the murder.
In a recent press conference, Police had declared that they have identified the culprits behind Yameen’s murder and released pictures of two men that were caught on CCTC footage in Yameen’s building. However, later they informed Yameen’s parents that the culprits are unknown.
Yameen Rasheed had received numerous death threats prior to his murder, which he had filed with the police. A number of people had also been summoned to Police Headquarters for questioning regarding the threats.
