Criminal court has ordered the immediate release of the Maldivian actor, Ahmed Azmeel (Azey), who was arrested for a drug related offence.
Azmeel was arrested during a police operation. In his hearing yesterday, the court ruled that he is to be released under conditions.
The court order stated that he was found with a bag containing what was believed to be a packet of drugs. However, since he has no prior records of criminal activity and is not deemed to be a danger to society, the court decided to release him under conditions.
Police statement reveals that the operation executed in Vilimale’ led to the arrest of two individuals in possession of drugs.
