Reflecting on past instances, including former Education Minister Aishath Ali's public criticism for active participation in political activities, Dr. Shafiu expresses a commitment to political engagement without compromising integrity. He draws a comparison to Dr. Aishath Shiham, a minister during President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom's tenure, who he believes managed to be politically active while setting an example.
Dr. Shafiu outlines his policy, stating, "I will be political, but I will not say anything that will compromise my integrity in front of students, parents, and teachers. My main commitment is to be vigilant towards the system." He accentuated the responsibility of the Education Minister in maintaining integrity within the system.
While distinguishing non-political meetings and events attended by the president, Dr. Shafiu acknowledges potential party activities.
