The list of applicants for the second round of Greater Male' Area housing schemes Binveriya (land plots) and Gedhoruveriya (flats) have been published.

Over 40,000 new applicants have sent in forms in this second round of the outgoing administration's housing scheme.

According to the list published late Thursday night, 21,247 persons applied for flats and 19,347 persons applied for landplots. A complaints window has been opened through which complaints can be submitted if any applicant's name is missing from the list.

Published at 11.53pm, the document only lists all applicants, and not details of points awarded or eligibility. The government previously claimed that they would announce recipients before the end of their term.

Applications for land plots were open to persons who are residents of Male' or have been living in the capital for a minimum of 20 years. Flat applications could be submitted by those who have lived in the capital for a minimum of 15 years.

Earlier, in the first round of the Binveriya scheme, approximately 20,000 applications were sent in. Of these, 18,955 were deemed eligible and received registries for land plots in Hulhumale', Gulhi Falhu and Giraavaru Falhu.

President Elect Dr Mohamed Muizzu has said that he will not disqualify any applications for the two housing schemes.
