The registrar of the High Court, Hassan Ali, was terminated from his position on Thursday.

While Mihaaru’s sources confirmed Hassan Ali’s dismissal, the reason behind the development remains unclear. Mihaaru was not able to receive a comment from the Department of Judicial Administration regarding the matter.

According to the Courts of Judicature Act of the Maldives, the registrar of the High Court must meet the qualifications of a lower court judge as the registrar holds the authority to accept or reject cases submitted to the High Court.

Hassan Ali was appointed as the registrar of the High Court last year March after he applied for the position following his resignation as a deputy of the Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure.
