Several new members joined the main opposition Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) on Friday evening, September 15.
According to PPM, over 300 new members joined the party during the rally held at Artificial Beach on Friday evening.
Among the high profile members to join the party on Friday included former Prosecutor General Muhuthaz Muhsin and State Minister of the Ministry of Fisheries and Jumhooree Party (JP) member Mohamed Ahmed.
Several members who joined PPM on Friday also included former JP and Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) members. Notable local athletes, entertainment industry professionals, and business entrepreneurs were among the new members as well.
The membership forms were accepted by the PPM and People's National Congress (PNC) coalition's presidential candidate and Malé City Mayor Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, and the interim leader of the coalition Abdul Raheem Abdulla.
