Police probe plot to “assassinate” High Court judge

Police have launched an investigation into a paid assassination attempt on a High Court judge, Mihaaru has found out.

It appears that Police have already made an arrest and are probing the detained suspect over a paid attempt to assassinate Judge Shujau Usman of the High Court.

According to reliable sources, Police arrested Ministry of Education’s Senior Policy Executive Ibrahim Haneef late Tuesday for investigation into a case connected to Judge Shujau.

Police spokesperson confirmed that the police are looking into an attempted assault on Judge Shujau but provided no further details.

Mihaaru’s sources say that Judge Shujau, who works in the southern branch of the High Court in Addu atoll Meedhoo island, was recently brought to capital Male in connection with the plot to assassinate him.

Mihaaru understands that the issue surfaced due to a leaked audio recording of the culprits discussing the planned assassination.
