President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said that he has begun his presidential election campaign with the largest coalition formed till date.

During his visit to Shaviyani atoll to launch his presidential campaign, President Solih stated that over 90 percent of the promises he made during his 2018 presidential campaign have been either fulfilled or are currently in progress.

The President highlighted that despite facing challenges, the government has achieved significant success and has worked towards providing a dignified life for the people.

Speaking to the residents of Shaviyani atoll Maroshi yesterday, President Solih emphasized that he is contesting the election with the largest coalition in the history of the Maldives, consisting of more than 77,700 registered members.

The President said that the number of registered members in the coalition is expected to increase to 90,000 as the election nears.

The Adaalath Party and the Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) have joined the President's coalition for his second-term bid. However, Jumhooree Party (JP), a member of the ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) coalition, has declined to form an alliance with the President. Meanwhile, the Maldives Reform Movement (MRM) is yet to make a decision on the matter.

Subsequently, members aligned with Nasheed formed a new party called The Democrats, and they have announced their intention to participate in the upcoming elections.
