The new modern hospital being developed in the reclaimed suburb of Hulhumale will be unveiled three months later than estimated due to slow progress, stated the project’s owner Tree Top Investments Pvt Ltd on Sunday.
The company had first announced that Tree Top Hospital will be completed and opened in mid-2017 but the date has now been pushed back to August.
After a tour of the hospital’s progress to Minister of Health Abdulla Nazim, Tree Top Investments’ Director Ahmed Saleem told reporters that the company is aiming to establish a state-of-the-art hospital that rivals the facilities of developed East Asian countries.
He said that Tree Top Investments is in discussion with the project’s contractor, Alke-Turmacs of Turkey, regarding a date to complete and hand over the hospital. He noted that a period of three months will be taken to then award the hospital’s management to a new contractor as the managing firm will require time to check the facilities and systems.
“And so, we’re expecting to open around August.”
Director Saleem also proclaimed that Tree Top Investments has already commenced recruitment of doctors and nurses for the new hospital.
“We don’t want to bring in staff from any state hospital as that would only lower the standards of government hospitals,” he said.
The director also rejoiced that the company has succeeded in appointing a veteran surgeon from Austria for bypass operations. He stressed that a bypass surgeon was the position most challenging to fill.
He assured that Tree Top Hospital’s services will be made available at economical rates to patients, declaring that the company is not looking for mere profit.
