The government of Maldives announced initiating several developmental projects in various atolls of the country through India's grant aid.
Earlier, India announced that it was extending a grant worth MVR27 million which will be distributed towards various developmental projects in a total of six different atolls.
The projects and India's decision of providing the grant were confirmed during the most recent visit by Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.
Other projects that fall under the grant include;
- Development of a new audiology department in Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital
- Site museums at "Maabudhuge" in Noonu atoll Landhoo and Dhiyamigili Palace in Thaa atoll Dhiyamigili
- Multi-sports complex in Noonu atoll Manadhoo
- Prosthetics and orthotics facilities in Hulhumale' Hospital
- Youth centers in Alif Dhaal Dhiggaru and Gaaf Alif Gemanafushi
- Mental health unit in Addu Equatorial Hospital
The grant is extended towards urban development in areas of medicine, youth empowerment, and the preservation of culture and heritage.
