The largest interactive water fountain in the Maldives has opened to the public in Central Park Hulhumalé. Developed by the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), the fountain was officially inaugurated by the Minister of Fisheries, Dr Hussain Rasheed Hassan and HDC’s Managing Director Suhail Ahmed. Speaking at a special ceremony held last Friday, Suhail Ahmed highlighted that the fountain was developed in line with HDC’s integrated plans on utilising green spaces for the community's benefit. Future plans include further developing the recreation zone and mosque area of the park in addition to expanding the urban farming area. The appeal of interactive fountains is global as the design of the fountain embodies the beauty and lure of the water by creating distinctive water patterns. The Central Park fountain was developed over 20,000 square meters by well-established Turkish company ALKAR Insaat. The water rises to a maximum of 15 meters making it a spectacle for viewers. The color changing abilities and LED lighting to illuminate night time viewing makes it an attraction for both young and elder people.
