COVID-19: Maldives records 124 new cases, 128 recoveries

The Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Monday, announced that 124 more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Maldives while 128 recovered from the disease.

According to the agency, of the new cases, 78 were from the greater Male’ region, 33 cases from residential islands, 13 cases from operational resorts and one case from liveabords.

Currently, the island nation records a total of 26,124 virus cases of which 2,585 are active cases, in addition to 23,482 recoveries and 69 deaths.

On March 12, 2020, WHO classified the spread of COVID-19 as a global pandemic. To date, the new strain of novel coronavirus has infected over 141 million people and claimed over 3 million lives around the world. However, out of those infected, more than 120 million people have recovered.
