The Civil Court ordered Mohamed "Moho" Allam Latheef to pay back over USD 1000 to Bank of Maldives (BML) to settle his Credit Card balance.

The court made the decision last Monday to settle Allam's Gold Credit Card balance which he owes to BML.

The verdict commands Allam to pay USD 1092 (MVR 16,800) to BML in three months. The decision was announced in the absence of Allam as he is not in the country.

The state has pressed terrorism charges against Allam over weapons found in the uninhabited island of Hibalhidhoo in Baa atoll. He had also owned the front company through which nearly USD 80 million in state funds was embezzled. The trial has been at halt as Allam was not present for the hearings.
