The murdered prominent lawmaker Dr Afrasheem Ali’s father, Ali Zafir, has passed away.
Mihaaru understands that the 78 year old passed away early Saturday around 10:00 a.m. while undergoing treatment at Ungoofaaru Regional Hospital in Raa atoll. He had been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit four days prior.
The reason for his admission remains unclear.
His funeral was held in Ungoofaaru island after the afternoon prayer.
Ali Zafir was the father of former Ungoofaar MP Afrasheem, Ibrahim Ameen who assumed the position after Afrasheem’s murder, and Abdul Nasir, the President of Ungoofaaru Island Council. Zafir had also served as the island chief of Ungoofaaru for several years.
