Maldives pres calls to prevent corruption

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom urged the prevention of any action that might involve corruption in public service.

He made the request in his Official Statement published in commemoration of the International Anti-Corruption Day.

In his statement he stressed that it is a high priority of the government to eliminate corruption, saying that the Anti-Corruption Commission together with all other institutions should not hesitate to investigate corruption related issues.

He also emphasized that proper mechanisms are required to eliminate corruption within the government, adding that in order to give strict punishment, proper laws needs to be passed.

Commending to create a Corruption-Free environment, President Yameen concluded by sending the greetings of the day to President of ACC Hassan Luthfee, members of ACC and it’s staff.
