STO announces new operation hours

State Trading Organisation (STO), on Saturday, announced new operation hours for several outlets following measures to ease lockdown in the capital city of Male'.

STO's Call Center is scheduled to open between 0900 to 2300 hrs from Saturday to Thursday and 1400 to 2300 hrs on Friday.

Following the reopening of its pharmacies, STO announced the suspension of prescription delivery services provided in the capital city of Male' during the lockdown. Customers that have already placed orders will be informed when prescriptions are ready for collection.

Pharmacies in Male' will be open from 0900 to 2100 hrs while pharmacies outside the capital will operate as per usual.

According to STO, customers may continue to request for online prescriptions through https://sto.mv/Online/Prescriptions.

STO Supermarket will be open between 0900 to 1445 hrs and 1600 to 2100 hrs from Saturday to Thursday. The supermarket will also be open to customers from 1600 to 2100 hrs on Fridays.

Opening hours for STO Construction Warehouse are 0900 to 1600 hrs while STO Home Improvement will be open from 0900 to 1200 hrs and 1300 to 2100 hrs on the same days.

The company's online shopping services will also be available for customers via eSTOre. Customers can place orders for staple food items through https://sto.mv/Estore/Staples and purchase groceries from STO Supermart through https://sto.mv/Estore/Shop?site=sm04. Home Improvement products can also be bought by visiting https://sto.mv/Estore/Shop?site=sm01.

Opening hours for STO Wholesale Centre are 0900 to 1700 hrs from Saturday to Thursday. STO's shop and warehouse in the reclaimed suburb of Hulhumale' will be open between 0900 to 1800 hrs and 2000 to 2100 hrs from Sunday to Thursday.

Following the lockdown first declared on April 15, authorities commenced the phased easing of restrictions on May 28, with the second phase beginning on June 15. This allows movement without a permit for essential needs, businesses and delivery services, as well as other necessities within limitations as stated by the HPA.

The Ministry of Economic Development permitted businesses and retail services in the capital to operate from 0900 to 2100 hrs.

As one of the most densely populated cities in the world, Maldives' capital Malé recorded a significant increase in COVID-19 cases in the first weeks following the first confirmed local transmission on April 15. However, the number of recoveries recorded daily are now consistently higher than newly confirmed cases.

Maldives presently records a total of 2,203 confirmed cases, out of which 390 are active cases of COVID-19. The country records 1,803 recoveries and eight fatalities so far.

WHO has classified the spread of COVID-19 as a global pandemic. The new strain of novel coronavirus has infected over 8.9 million people and claimed over 468,100 lives around the world. However, out of those infected, 4.7 million people have recovered.
