The government, on Tuesday night, announced a flu-clinic dedicated to foreigners in the reclaimed suburb of Hulhumale'.

Mabrouq Abdul Azeez, Communications Undersecretary at the President’s Office, made the announcement at a press conference held at convention centre Dharubaaruge.

Foreigners that visit the facility, which will remain open from 1000 to 2200 hrs, do not need to present any identification material or work permits.

The government previously established two similar facilities for Maldivian citizens in the capital city of Male'.

The clinic located at Senahiya Military Hospital is designated for individuals with symptoms of the virus, without any travel history to a country with a confirmed case of COVID-19.

The second facility, located near the Sinamale apartment complexes, is a Travel Clinic for individuals exhibiting symptoms of the virus with recent travel to a country with the outbreak.

Furthermore, Mabrooq revealed that authorities are working to transfer the couple which tested positive for COVID-19 in Sandies Bathala resort to Dharumavantha Hospital after doctors advised close monitoring for one of the individuals. However, he assured that both individuals are clinically stable and that the transfer was finalised since one of the individuals is over the age of 70 and considered high-risk. The individuals will be kept in an intensive respiratory care department.

The first COVID-19 cases in Maldives were reported from Kuredu Island Resort on March 7, prompting a lockdown of the island. Sandies Bathala resort was quarantined after the two cases were confirmed on Monday.

Following two additional cases reported from Kuredu Resort on Monday, number of confirmed cases in Maldives has reached six.

Till date, no Maldivians have tested positive for COVID-19.
