UAE evacuates Arabs nationals quarantined in Wuhan

The United Arab Emirates (UAE), On Wednesday, evacuated Arab nationals quarantined in Wuhan City, China, over the recent COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), over 200 evacuees, transported in a a modified aircraft, are being treated and monitored at the newly built Emirates Humanitarian City. The flight is equipped with High-Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) cabin air filtration system and medical equipment.

The healthcare facility was sanctioned under the directives of UAE President Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Crown prince of Abu Dhabi and the Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to provide neighbouring Arab countries with the necessary facilities to evacuate their citizens from the COVID-19's epicentre of the outbreak.

The individuals will be quarantined for a period of 14 days, where they will undergo round the clock surveillance and necessary medical tests.

UAE's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the International Operation and UAE's Embassay in China, coordinated the evacuation efforts.
