Japan hands over firetruck, thermal camera, 3 breathing apparatus to NDMA

The Ambassador of Japan to Maldives, Keiko Yanai, on Monday, donated a fully-equipped firetruck, a thermal camera and three sets of breathing apparatus to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).

At a total value of USD 88,449, the equipment was handed over to Minister of Defence Mariya Ahmed Didi under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Project (GGP), during a ceremony held at the MNDF Fire and Rescue Shed.

The Grant Contract signed was signed between Ambassador Keiko Yanai and NDMA on February 19, 2019.

The thermal imaging system and breathing apparatuses will be installed in the Male' Fire Station.

The GGP has funded 19 grassroots projects to date, exceeding a value of USD 2 million since it was implemented in the Maldives in 1996.
